Vietnam FDI in Laos Reaches Record USD 4.7 Billion (9M 2026): New Single-Window Mechanism & 4 Priority Sectors

1. USD 4.7 Billion Capital Surge & The 2026–2027 Strategic Horizon

Co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of the Lao PDR and Vietnam in Vientiane, the 2026 Conference celebrated the upcoming 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, and preparations for the 2027 Laos–Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year. Over 500 senior officials and business leaders participated alongside 23 corporate exhibition booths.

2. Centralized Single-Window Reform Under the Lao Prime Minister

The Lao Government highlighted the creation of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee (IPMC) as a central one-stop body directly guided by the Prime Minister. Technical public–private sessions addressed practical bottlenecks in investment approval workflows, 30–50 year land concessions, cross-border power purchase agreements, and border infrastructure connectivity, culminating in the formal exchange of 17 investment documents and licenses.

3. Four Priority Sectors for Foreign Investors in Laos (2026–2027)
